AFF Calls on Senate to Follow House’s Lead

Des Moines, IA – The American Future Fund (AFF) today applauded the U.S. House of Representatives for passing the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. The bill passed Friday, 293 to 129.

“We applaud the House, and especially thank Speaker Pelosi for allowing the bill to come up for a vote,” said AFF President Nicole Schlinger. “We urge the Senate to follow their lead, and pass this essential bill this week.”

On February 16, the intelligence community was dealt a blow when the law giving them the ability to intercept new terrorist communications expired.

In April, AFF took out full-page newspaper ads encouraging Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi to bring the bill up for a vote. Additionally, AFF sponsored an online petition, which encouraged individuals across the country to get involved and make their voice heard.

“This is a great example of citizens making their voices heard,” said Schlinger. “We are pleased that members of the House were listening.”
