Minnesota House Calls on Congress to Pass ‘Card Check’

Legislation that would strip American workers of their right to choice in the workplace

Des Moines, IA - Yesterday, the Minnesota House of Representatives passed a resolution to encourage the U.S. Congress to pass the Employee Free Choice Act, union backed legislation.

AFF President Nicole Schlinger said, “It is unfortunate to see the Minnesota state legislature support stripping American workers of their fundamental right to cast their vote on a federally protected private ballot. No one should feel threatened or bullied into joining a union or not.”

AFF Calls on Congress to Crack Down on Tax Evasion

High Profile Cases Highlight Need for Congress to Take Action

Des Moines, IA – Today the American Future Fund calls on Congress to crack down on a growing, persistent problem with businesses that knowingly violate the law by failing to pay taxes they owe.

A recent article in USA Today highlighted that over 60,000 firms doing business with the U.S. government owe in excess of $8 billion in taxes. Rep. Brad Ellsworth, D-Indiana is leading an effort in Congress to limit government contracts being awarded to companies that are delinquent on taxes owed to the government.

American Future Fund Releases Louisiana Poll Findings


Survey finds desperately low congressional approval ratings and growing interest in taxes and economic issues

Des Moines, Iowa – Today the American Future Fund released the findings of an issues survey recently taken in the state of Louisiana. The poll, conducted by Voter/Consumer Research from April 15-21, surveyed 515 Louisiana residents. The margin of error is +/- 4.9%. (See poll findings below.)

Pollster Jan van Lohuizen said, “The survey clearly illustrates that Louisianans are most concerned about jobs and the economy. When combined with concerns about taxes, economic issues are far and away the most salient to the people of Louisiana. It is safe to say that economic issues will be pre-eminent in their minds in the coming weeks and months. The data also clearly indicates that there is great concern over the direction of the national economy.”

Nancy Pelosi needs to listen to the urging of her Democratic colleagues and bring the bipartisan terrorist surveillance legislation to a vote.”
