Des Moines, IA – American Future Fund (AFF) is pleased to see more former supporters of ObamaCare, reversing position and raising concern such as US Senator Max Baucus (D-MT) did this week before Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.
During a hearing, Baucus called the implementation of ObamaCare a “train wreck” and said he was “very concerned” about the misconceptions the public and small business owners have about the effects of the new law.
As chairman of the finance committee, Baucus was a key author and supporter of the ObamaCare law. However, he realizes the days of lofty speeches and promises are quickly coming to an end. The rubber is about to meet the road. Small businesses in particular will feel the pain of this trillion-dollar plan which will increase our debt and taxes, cut $500 billion from Medicare, force job cuts and threaten the very quality of our healthcare. This harsh reality is leaving former supporters, like the Roofer’s Union and Senator Baucus, voicing their concerns and calling for repeal.
“We are pleased more leaders are recognizing ObamaCare for what it is – an irresponsible and wasteful plan,” stated AFF Founder Nick Ryan. ”We need healthcare reform but a trillion-dollar government takeover was never the right plan for America. Senator Baucus’ statements and pressure on the Dept of Health and Human Services is exactly what is needed to repeal ObamaCare and get us back on the right course.”

The Hill: Baucus warns of ‘huge train wreck’ enacting ObamaCare provisions
From The Hill’s Sam Baker, April 17, 2013:
- Baucus, the chairman of the powerful Finance Committee and a key architect of the healthcare law, said he fears people do not understand how the law will work.
“I just see a huge train wreck coming down,” Baucus told Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius at a Wednesday hearing. “You and I have discussed this many times, and I don’t see any results yet.”
Baucus pressed Sebelius for details about how the health department will explain the law and raise awareness of its provisions, which are supposed to take effect in just a matter of months.
“I’m very concerned that not enough is being done so far — very concerned,” Baucus said.

Des Moines, IA – American Future Fund (AFF) applauds the Roofer’s Union for boldly coming forward and calling for repeal of ObamaCare.
The Roofer’s Union, along with many other organized labor groups, were strong supporters of ObamaCare and critical to it’s passage in 2010. But now that the the plan is becoming law, they are seeing it for what it is – an irresponsible and wasteful plan. The trillion-dollar plan will increase our debt and taxes, cut $500 billion from Medicare, force employers to cut jobs and threatens the very quality of our healthcare. The outrageous costs to labor unions are causing them to consider dropping insurance coverage altogether.
“It is encouraging to see the tide turning toward repeal of ObamaCare,” stated AFF Founder Nick Ryan. ”There is a little buyers remorse taking place. The realities of ObamaCare don’t quite match up to the pretty talking points package we were sold. We need healthcare reform but a trillion-dollar government takeover was never the right plan for America. Hopefully this will begin the dialogue needed to repeal ObamaCare and get us back on the right course.”
